Ceramic crown in 2 hours

It can happen that during eating a tooth breaks off unexpectedly usually caused by an old amalgam or “patch-work” filling.

A crown or partial crown is needed to restore the tooth. It should be white and stable which makes ceramic the material of choice.

Can this be done without a temporary crown, without a second appointment, without an impression?
Yes. With CEREC.

Thanks to modern technology we create a custom ceramic crown in just one visit.
A 3D scanner captures a precise digital image of the situation in your mouth. Dr. Wenger designs the new crown, and it is immediately milled in our milling unit.

After just a few minutes, the crown is ready to be placed on your tooth. Done. You save both time and money.

This method is also suitable for ceramic inlays/onlays as an alternative material to the softer composite, or for teeth that have undergone root canal treatment.

CEREC by the way stands for Ceramic Reconstruction.
The damaged portion of the tooth is reconstructed while the healthy structure is preserved. Different types of ceramics varying in hardness, elasticity, fracture resistance, translucency, and color are available.

Fun fact: The CEREC method was developed at the University of Zurich in the 1980s. Invented in Switzerland - I was fortunate to work and learn under one of the two inventors, Professor Mörmann.
